High School Senior Film | February 27, 2019

Senior Films are something new to Tracey Dawkins Photography.  As a high school senior photographer, I have been capturing the true beauty and personality of my high school seniors for years. It is my passion and my message to my seniors, to love who they are, and that they are enough. My tag line is: Dare to BeYOUtiful.

I still love capturing these special seniors with gorgeous photos, but I decided to to take it a step further. I want to capture a glimpse of the child on the brink of adult hood in their senior year. The way they laugh, how the walk, their personal style, their story. The best way I can think of to do this is by filming them. So I am proud to introduce Senior Films by Tracey Dawkins Photography.

My very first film is of Lexi a class of 2019 Hagerty High School Senior. Lexi and I and her best friend, who came along to assist and for moral support, headed off to Winter Park for an afternoon of pictures and film. You may have seen some of her senior pictures in my last blog.

It was a hot summer afternoon ,but despite the heat, we had a blast. Lexi is a natural in front of the camera and adding in the film just added to the fun. It was a little hard for Lexi to keep a straight face at times, but she did her best to pull it off. Here is the results of our Senior Film Session:

High School Senior Photo Sessions | February 20, 2019

Oviedo Senior Portraits are my passion.  I love working with high school seniors through out Central Florida on their senior portraits, but Oviedo has a special place in my heart.  Lexi an Oviedo girl that attends Hagerty High School,  is a great example of a senior that I love to work with.  Lexi is a beautiful girl with a  gorgeous smile but, she is also just as beautiful on the inside.  Lexi has her own style and knows how to show it off.

City Streets

First stop of Lexi’s session is one of my favorite streets in Winter Park.  Lexi chose an adorable classic but urban look for her outfit.  The ripped jeans and black top perfect for this background.  I love that Lexi added a hat as an accessory for her outfit.  Perfect choice to frame her pretty face.

Flower Gardens

The flower gardens at Rollins College are one of my favorite places to shoot.  Creating an Oviedo Senior Portrait is so easy when you are surrounded by flowers and fountains.  Lexi chose to wear a light and breezy  summer top along with jeans and ankle boots, an on point look for today’s seniors.

The Fields

One of my seniors’ favorite places for their sessions are the fields.  The fields take on a personality of their  own depending on what season it is.  Sometimes, they have flowers, sometimes they have purple grass just depends on the season of the year and it is always a surprise.  This time the fields had flower’s that perfectly matched Lexi’s dress, how lucky is that?

Up Town Girl

As the sun was going down, we decided to add a little up town drama to the session.  This  dramatic shot of Lexi was done using some off the camera flash.

The Rocks

We finished Lexi’s session off with pictures on the rocks at sunset.  Such a pretty place to finish the session. Lexi did a great job choosing her outfits for this session and this sunny summer dress was the icing on the cake.

As an Orlando high school senior photographer, it is my privilege and joy to have the opportunity to work with seniors with diverse backgrounds and cultures.  When I had the chance to photograph Maya in her traditional Indian dress, I was so excited.

We started this session at Kraft Azalea Park in Winter Park FL.   The colors of Maya’s dress just popped against this beautiful natural setting.  It got even better when Maya showed off some of her dance skills in her dress.

Just down the road from the Park is the beautiful campus of Rollins College.  As an Orlando high school senior photographer, I take advantage of the Rollins campus every chance I get.  We started our session at Rollins in the rose garden,  the flowers and pretty scenery were a perfect backdrop for  Maya and the pretty lace dress she had on.

Weather was a major concern during our session, it had been raining every day for weeks.  The cloudy day actually helped with our session, cloudy days are the best days for shooting flowers because the sun doesn’t wash out their colors.

I loved how Maya looked in her purple dress.  When you find a dress that fits this well with a color that looks great on you, take advantage of it, where it any chance you get.  For the next part of our session, Maya changed her dress into a white school girl style dress, which also looked fabulous on her.

We ended Maya’s session on the dock at Rollins.  With all the clouds we worried we wouldn’t have any pretty sunset pictures. Sure enough, the clouds were completely covering the sun to the west.  

Lucky for us,  the reflection of the sun’s light on the clouds behind the dock still gave us a pretty sky to wok with.  In addition, as the sun continued to set the water started to turn pretty colors and we still got that pretty golden hour glow.

Maya’s pretty red eyelet dress was the prefect compliment to golden hour colors of the lake and sky.  It was such a joy to work with Maya on her senior pictures,  and I am looking forward to her cap and gown pictures and some other sessions we have in the works for her.  If you would like to know more about my Senior Sessions, please fill out the form below or feel free to email me at Tracey@TraceyDawkinsPhotography.com

15 things to love about summer…well there are a lot more than 15, but this is a good start.  Summer is my favorite time of year, and I could easily list 100 things.

15.  Sleeping in – everything is a little slower in the summer, including me getting out of bed.  This could have something to do with number 14 on the list.

14.  Staying up late – I think this is a direct result of it not getting dark until almost 9:00.  But I find myself staying up a lot later than usual.

13.  Shorts – Shorts are a necessity in Florida in the summer time.  Casual, high waisted denim jean shorts and even dressy little rompers, which you can wear for any occasion.

12.  Back to School Shopping – Shopping for school clothes is always fun.  My family and I shop at the outlet malls and then go out to lunch, always a fun adventure.

11.  Picnics – whether you picnic at the beach or the lake, food always tastes better outside.   Family reunion picnics are fun too, the food is to die for!

10.  Laughing with Friends – this should happen year round, but it is nice to have more free time to enjoy with your favorite people.

9.  Ice Cream – In my case it isn’t really ice cream, but a strawberry vanilla Jeremiah’s Gelati, simply yummy!

8. Bare feet – Who needs shoes?  Time to show off those cute toes with some pretty nail polish and an ankle bracelet.

7.  Sunglasses – A cool pair of shades makes you look like a rock star.

6.  Flip Flops – Pretty much the go to shoe any time of year where I live, but I couldn’t leave them off the list.

5.  4th of July – Who doesn’t love sparklers and fire works?  Love this fun holiday.

4.  Time with Bestie – Enjoy every second you can with your bestie. You may be going to different colleges or life just gets in the way after high school.  Make it a point to stay in touch and have fun before Fall.

3.  Movies – One of the best places to be on a hot summer day?  A cool movie theater watching one of the seasons big block busters.

2.  The Beach – I always find peace at the beach.  The sound of the waves and the blowing breeze seem to slow down the crazy pace of life.

4th of July part 2 is themed around a picnic at the lake.   Rollins College, located on the shores of Lake Virginia, is the perfect place for lake pictures.  There is a horseshoe shaped dock and a little sandy beach area, perfect for photographing the team.  One thing I love about Rollins is you can park pretty close to the areas where you are shooting, this is a photographer’s dream.  So,  I loaded down my wagon with watermelon, ice, Cocoa Colas, a blanket and of course plenty of sparklers and set off to enjoy the shoot with my Senior  Rep Team.

I started this group session off  by photographing the boys.  These three boys are great friends, and it shows in the pictures.   Their natural camaraderie shows through in all of the shots.  I love how well their outfits go together, and those smiles are genuine.  The boys turn any photo session into a fun event.

A must have for 4th of July picnic pictures, is all American food and drink.   For this session, I picked something easy, watermelon and Coca-Colas.  The kids couldn’t wait to eat the watermelon.  Can I just say, sticky watermelon and sand don’t mix.  Luckily, we had fresh water and paper towels on hand.

This picture with the girls and the flags is my favorite picture from this session. They are the cutest girls and those smiles and dimples,  just love this pic!

As the sun starts to set the sky turns golden so we took some more dock pictures with that beautiful sky in the background.  As it gets darker, it’s sparkler time!

We did a couple of practice runs with the sparklers, just to make sure we could light them and because some of the kids were afraid of them.  I thought this was hilarious, I had to tell them that even toddlers hold sparklers.  As their sparkler’s were being lit, they would close their eyes and hold the sparkler way out it front of them.  After a couple of times everyone was more comfortable and we were ready to go.  By the end of the session they loved the sparklers, the boys even had a sparkler duel.  To see the sparkler duel picture and some of my other favs check out my social media pages listed below.
